Many people (including me at one point in my quest to get ripped fast) make the mistake of working out too frequently in the hope of stimulating more muscle mass. Well here’s an interesting fact, training too frequently actually sends your muscles into a ‘survival mode’ better known as ‘catabolism’. This is actually the break down of muscle tissue (protein) in order to feed us in times of starvation or extreme muscular demands, so quite obviously your not building muscle and they are actually getting smaller!

Your muscles are actually packed with little power packs that regulate energy and importantly our metabolism, so do the math, less muscle means a decreased body metabolsim and the lesser ability to burn body fat.

I still find it amusing to go to the gym and see these guys lifting huge weights thinking that’s how to become ripped. They usually lift with poor form which might only work 10-15% of the targeted muscles, and they tend to work the same target muscles on a daily basis in the belief that they will gain more muscle mass.

The best way to get ripped fast is to lift with perfect form that works 100% of your target muscles, but more importantly let your muscles fully recover from each workout with the right amount of rest and correct nutrition. This is the ONLY way that you will ever build muscle and get that ripped body and ripped abs.

Remember that your muscles actually do their mass building during your recovery periods, the only muscle size you’ll see during and after your workout will be ‘the pump’. This is where blood is flushed to the working muscles creating a temporary increase in size. The pump is actually a good thing though, as it stimulates increases in anabolic hormone that develop muscle mass during rest, however correct nutrition, rest and quality sleep from your workout are the real keys to developing long term muscle mass and a lean ripped body.
